- Project: Rahway Valley Sewerage Authority Upgrade and Expansion
- Type: Program Management
- Location: Rahway and Woodbridge Townships
- Project Cost: $200M
CCMS is managing the eight-year plan to design and construct plant upgrades and enhancements that will end the combined sewer overflow problems, eliminate any effluent violations and allow the plant to treat significantly greater flows from the Member Municipalities and commercial customers. Ultimately, the plant’s upgrades and expansion will increase the Rahway Valley Sewerage Authorities daily and maximum capacities of water treated, providing for cleaner effluent and reducing environmental pollution.
CCMS is providing on-site Construction Management services for this on-going facility up-grade project which includes the expansion of the facility, construction of a combined sludge drying and electrical co-generation, and a gravity relief sewer utilizing micro-tunneling. It is the initial project of a comprehensive $200M upgrade and expansion of the existing plant. This particular facility will use dual fuel gas-engine generators, operating on either natural gas, or the methane gas produced within the treatment plant itself, to generate electricity to power the upgraded treatment plant. In addition, the waste heat from the engines will be used for processing the sludge and for heating purposes throughout the facility. Upon completion of this project, RVSA will have an increased capacity from 63 Million Gallons per Day to 105 MGD, have sand filters (Tertiary Treatment), an ultraviolet disinfection, and a gravity relief sewer to bring excess wet weather flow to the treatment plant.
